We don't often review new auto detailing products, but given that the sun is once again shining in Southern California, we thought it just the right time to try out one of the latest: Gel Wax with Carnauba by Eagle One.
Eagle One has been making car detailing products for a while now, and Gel Wax is a culmination of its car care expertise. The gel is said to be easier to use than modern liquid waxes, while also lasting longer than traditional paste wax. It utilizes natural carnauba and the brand's "unique polishers" to enhance shine and water beading. To boot, it's fairly "green" and features no harmful petroleum solvents.
To see if it indeed has what it takes to make us say "Wow," we put Gel Wax to the test on one of our long-term vehicles. As Eagle One claims, Gel Wax is easy to use. After a complete washing and drying of our 2010 Subaru Legacy test vehicle, we applied the gel to a clean microfiber towel and gently wiped one section at a time, followed by a wipe off with second clean towel. No mess, no fuss. Safe to say, the Eagle One did its job, and did it well.
Our Subaru's coat was immediately shinier than it's ever been, with a mirror-like gloss in the bright sun. No haze was left and no discoloring evident, while the paint was left smooth to the touch. A few hours later, we washed it again to see if the water beaded as advertised. Nothing but bulbous blobs of H2O slid off its surface.
While we're no auto detailing gurus, we know what works and what doesn't on our cars. This stuff does so we'd recommend checking it out the next time you're putting the shine on your ride. Eagle One Gel Wax is available nationwide at major retailers at a price of $9.99 per 16-ounce bottle.
